A bit of history

As far back as 1986 – at the age of five – I started developing small programs for PC, C64 and Apple //c, just for fun. My professional career didn’t begin until 2001 when, following a trip connected with my military service, I was contacted by a web agency in Padua, where I ended up working first as a classic ASP developer and then moving on to the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.

When the dot-com bubble burst in 2002, I decided it was time to make my own way in the world. I moved to Germany where, for a year, I oversaw the digitalization of the processes of a consumer electronics import/export business. The experience was crucial in getting me in touch with reality, which, until that moment, I was barely aware of.

From Germany, I moved with my girlfriend to Italy, where I entered the world of fashion and apparel as a consultant specializing in vertical PLM/PDM solutions and carried out several projects for major international fashion brands.

Thanks to the trust placed in me by the management, I had the opportunity to create and lead a new in-house team tasked with the development of CAD solutions and accompanying tools. I devoted myself to setting up a testing environment and introducing source code management along with new agile and test-driven development methodologies and versioning. I also I made sure that all company entities (support, marketing, sales, etc.) remained in constant, controlled and effective communication with the newborn development team.

 

After several years of intense and fruitful collaboration, I decided to accept new challenges, this time in the facility management world, working with one of the biggest European companies in the sector.

In the same period, I developed Breezer – a product that allowed music lovers to organize and make the most of the endless audio libraries they were accumulating, which, at that time, had no handy tool to browse and organize them in Windows.

Aided by my former employers (with whom I continue to have an excellent relationship), I decided to found my very own consulting firm.

 

What I do

My main activity and the main activity of the professionals I work with is helping companies and startups across the entire IT ecosystem to solve problems they come up against from time to time. With startups, this can sometimes mean the creation from scratch of an entire development team, the creation of a corporate IT culture, and seeking out professionals capable of containing and controlling costs until the MVP (minimum viable product) is released.

In fact, many good business ideas can run into difficulties due to lack of knowledge of the technical aspects of the product and an inability to identify potential pitfalls. Given the vast amount of technology available today, it is easy to invest mistakenly in technologies that turn out to be inadequate. This is where we step in to provide support, personnel and expert advice on the most suitable technologies for the job at hand.

My clients come in all shapes and sizes. At one end of the scale, they are huge organizations that tend to take a traditional approach; at the other end – where I sit as a CTO on the boards of four different startups – they are small in size but huge in innovation – far less formal and much more active on the technological front. I am equally at home at either end, and I enjoy the challenges as well as the rewards at both.

In order to better support my clients, I recently expanded my design, development and testing activities to Eastern Europe, thus enabling me to offer more firepower when needed, whether it be for developing mobile apps and multiplatform applications or web/app UI design.
